ChapterOffers Classes at Three Sites
The Mid-Fairfield County Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering Lifeguard Training as well as Water Safety Instructor classes at three area high schools in May.
Lifeguard Training teaches the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Participants will receive certification in First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Automated External Defibrillation (AED) and Lifeguard Training. To enroll participants must be at least 15 years of age and have good swimming skills. Cost for the five-session course is $300.
Course #1 will be held at Norwalk High School, 23 Calvin Murphy Dr. Norwalk CT 06851. Classes are May 12– 16, 6:00pm – 10:00pm, and May 17 10:00am – 3:00pm
Course #2 will be held at Masuk High School, 1014 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. Classes are May 19-23, 6:00–10:00pm and May 24, 10:00am– 3:00pm.
The Water Safety Instructor course trains an instructor candidate to teach the Infant and Pre-School Aquatics Program, plus the six levels of the Learn to Swim Program. The course includes Fundamentals of Instructor Training. All Students must be aat least 16 years old and have good swimming skills. Cost is $350.
Course #1 will be held at Staples High School, 70 North Ave. Westport, CT 06880. Classes are May 19-23, 5:00pm – 10:00pm and May 24, 10:00am – 5:00pm.
Course #2 will be held at Masuk High School, 1014 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. Classes are June 23 - 27, 5:00pm – 10:00pm and June 28, 10:00am – 5:00pm.
